Welcome to WrenSong Therapy Practice

Hello, and welcome. I’m so excited to be up and running with this new website and new name — WrenSong Therapy Practice. I’d love to share how the name WrenSong came to be. I am an avid birdwatcher. I first discovered the incredible world of birds during an ornithology class in college, and I carried that love of listening and observing with me everywhere I went. I learned to recognize birds by their voices and melodies — often knowing who was nearby even when I couldn’t see them.
I could become deeply focused for hours, listening for a particular bird and tracking its song. I later realized that for someone with an ADHD brain, this kind of attentive listening was not only soothing, but also a wonderful form of focus training. A few winters ago, a close friend had a nesting pair of Carolina Wrens in his barn. It was fascinating to watch the parent wrens gather their little ones close and, when the time was right, teach them to sing.
Then, in 2021, my niece’s family welcomed a beautiful baby girl into their home. They named her Wren — and that sealed it. This space is dedicated to both the remarkable world of nature and the innate, developing nature of the young child we call Wren.
Research shows that connecting with the natural world helps calm the sympathetic nervous system, the part of our nervous system responsible for alarm and fear responses. In a chaotic world, we all need gentle, grounding resources. I hope you can find a place in nature where you can pause, breathe, and take in the essence of what surrounds you.
Welcome to WrenSong.
